CORTEXIN – is a complex of polypeptide fractions that possesses nootropic, antioxidative, neuroprotective effects. It was developed to treat neurological diseases and pathological processes associated with the impairments of the brain functions. Cortexin is highly effective in treating ischemic brain damage by reducing neuronal apoptosis (programmed cell death), caused by excessive glutamate accumulation. It improves brain energy metabolism by restoring the synthesis of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) in neuronal cells, so Cortexin is effective in restoring after stroke. The peptides included into Cortexin provide neurotrophic effects on cells, thus stimulating the production of neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF). Besides, Cortexin prevents the formation of free-radicals in the brain tissues. Cortexin enhances cognitive performance, learning abilities and memory, alertness and stress tolerance.
